Prosci
Prosci and change portfolio management
Prosci
Prosci is a change management company founded in 1994 by Jeff Hiatt. It conducts practitioner research and offers training, consulting, and tools to help organizations manage the human side of change. Its methodology includes the ADKAR model for individual change and a three-phase process for organizational initiatives.
Prosci also examines what happens when several initiatives affect the same people. Its change portfolio approach maps initiatives against the groups they affect, the extent of the impact, and its timing. That wider view can inform decisions about resources and sequencing that may be hard to make when each project is considered separately.
In the executive summary of its 2023 Best Practices in Change Management study, Prosci reports that respondents who said they actively managed a portfolio of change projects more often reported meeting or exceeding project objectives than respondents who did not. The finding is a practitioner-reported association, not evidence that portfolio management caused better outcomes or eliminates change fatigue. Prosci both produces this research and sells change management services and tools.
