ABOUT

Jeffrey P. Bezos

Jeffrey P. Bezos founded Amazon in 1994 and serves as its executive chair. His shareholder letters provide a firsthand account of how he approached decisions while leading the company. In his 2016 letter, he argued against using one process for every decision: reversible choices can receive lighter scrutiny, while an organization also needs to recognize and correct mistakes quickly.

Bezos suggested that many decisions can be made before all desired information is available. He also urged teams to escalate genuine conflicts over objectives rather than let prolonged discussion settle them by exhaustion. These are his management recommendations, not a universal evidence threshold or proof that faster decisions improve every outcome. Invent and Wander collects his shareholder letters alongside speeches and interviews, with an introduction by Walter Isaacson.
