Lindsey Raymond
Lindsey Raymond is an assistant professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with a joint appointment spanning economics, electrical engineering and computer science, and the Schwarzman College of Computing. Her research examines how artificial intelligence and other digital technologies affect labor markets, firms and competition.
Raymond co-authored Generative AI at Work with Erik Brynjolfsson and Danielle Li. Their study of an AI assistant introduced at a customer-support firm found productivity gains that were especially pronounced for less-experienced workers. It provides evidence about people using AI on the job, not a general estimate of autonomous agents’ effectiveness. Raymond also studies how algorithmic tools can alter market behavior, extending her work beyond individual productivity to the effects of technology on allocation and competition.
