Peter Maik Hamann

Peter Maik Hamann researches corporate planning and its relationship to organizational performance. His doctoral work at TU Dresden examined how planning systems, organizational circumstances and performance relate to one another.

With Oliver Halw and Thomas W. Guenther, Hamann coauthored a 2023 Strategic Management Journal meta-analysis drawing on 183 independent study samples. The researchers found a positive association between corporate planning and organizational performance, while examining how that association varies across contexts and measures. Their finding concerns an association; it does not establish that planning, by itself, causes better performance.
