ABOUT

László Pólos

László Pólos is a scholar of organization theory, organizational sociology and logical models. The Hungarian Academy of Sciences lists affiliations with Károli Gáspár University and Durham University Business School. His research brings formal reasoning to questions about how organizations are structured and how they change.

Pólos coauthored Cascading Organizational Change with Michael T. Hannan and Glenn R. Carroll. Their paper models organizational architecture as a system of codes and examines how one architectural change can prompt a sequence of further changes. That account is pertinent to an article about dependencies that make change difficult. It is a formal theory, however, not an empirical finding that every additional rule or initiative makes an organization less adaptable.
